How to Express Your Faith Every Day

How to Express Your Faith Every Day

In the Bible, we are told that faith is a gift from God. We learn in Hebrews 11:1 that "faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Faith can be difficult to express without conscious effort — however, there are ways in which you can express your faith every day in tangible ways with some practice. Here are some helpful tips from Maryland's in-person and online Bible college, The Spirit of Faith Bible Institute, to help you along your daily faith journey!

Listen to People With an Open Mind

Being able to listen to people is an incredible way to show them that you care about them. Instead of waiting for the other person to stop talking so you can make a point, try to listen and react in an inquisitive way. You may not always be able to get your point across, but the time you spend listening will make a powerful impression on them and they will feel heard — and that's something that can be uncommon in today's society.

Give Your Resources Generously

It's a natural human instinct to hold on tightly to our resources, but the Bible tells us over and over again to give generously. Whether it’s money, time, an ear, food, or something else, being generous blesses both you and the people around you. While the world may see it as counter-intuitive to give without the expectation of receiving anything in return, we'll be helping to embody the life-changing message of the Gospel — and people will notice.

Continuously Turn to Prayer

Throughout all of scripture, time and again the people of God use prayer to seek the will of God, pour out blessings on people, ask for wisdom, and to offer thanksgiving. Prayer is a powerful tool and a gift from the Creator of the universe — why shouldn't we rely on it on a daily basis to bolster our faith and ask for guidance in how to better live out our faithfulness toward our neighbors?

Strive to Be a Peacemaker

Rather than forcing our opinions on people or arguing our points of view about them on social media, what if we tried to think about ways to make peace and not jump straight into conflict? There is a lot of conflict in this world — and yet we are called to love one another. Be different by being known for love! When you find yourself in a disagreement, it can help to stop and think about the big picture. How could you make peace in this situation? What can you do to show love towards someone you disagree with?

At the end of the day, it is imperative to our faith that we love one another, even when it is hard. It will change the world — and even your life!
